Mundo Deportivo: Flick and Barcelona Agree on Key Transfer Priorities—Left-Footed Centre-Back, Winger, and Striker

Despite focusing on replicating last season's success, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, along with Sporting Director Deco and the sporting committee, has reached a consensus on the club's priority signings for next season. The key positions identified are a left-footed centre-back, a winger, and a centre-forward.

The club’s highest priority is the left-footed centre-back. The late departure of Iñigo Martínez in the summer transfer window left a significant void, forcing players like Cubarsí to play out of position and removing a key defensive anchor who excelled at organizing the offside trap. The club briefly considered an accelerated move for this position in January, though financial fair play rules and limited winter market options complicated the search.

The striker position is also a priority given that Robert Lewandowski will turn 38 next summer and enter the final year of his contract. While Julián Álvarez is highly favored, the involvement of the Apollo investment group in Atlético Madrid could complicate his release. Consequently, Harry Kane, who has a 65 million Euros release clause, is considered a viable target, as Erling Haaland remains an unfeasible dream.

Finally, Barcelona aims to strengthen its wide attacking options with another versatile winger. The club holds a 30 million Euros buy option for Marcus Rashford, but its execution will depend on a season-end assessment of the English player's performance. AC Milan's Rafael Leão is another name frequently mentioned, and the club must be prepared for the possibility of 29-year-old Raphinha departing for a lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia.
