In the Africa Cup quarter-finals, Morocco defeated Cameroon 2-0 to secure a place in the semi-finals. Real Madrid forward Diaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and Sebbar sealed the victory with a second goal in the 74th minute.
According to the schedule, Morocco will face the winner of the Algeria vs. Nigeria match in the semi-finals. After the game, several Moroccan players spoke about the potential clash with Algeria, sharing a unified stance: they fear no opponent, with only one goal in mind—winning the championship.
Sebbar, who scored the second goal, stated bluntly, “I don’t care who the next opponent is. If you want to win the title, you have to beat the strongest teams. We fear no one.”
Midfielder Ainaoui expressed the same view: “I have no preference between facing Algeria or Nigeria. What matters for us is focusing on the next match, whoever the opponent may be.”
Historically, Morocco and Algeria have met five times in the Africa Cup: Morocco won twice, Algeria once, and the remaining two matches ended in draws.
Another key midfielder, Onahsi, reflected, “Reaching the semi-finals makes me extremely excited. It’s been 20 years since we last achieved this, back in 2004 in Tunisia.”
He added: “I’m proud to play alongside this generation of players. We are like one big family, with no distinction between starters and substitutes. Tonight we celebrate, but starting tomorrow, we focus fully on the next match because we want to bring the trophy home to Morocco!”
