Brazilian Serie A giants Cruzeiro have officially announced the dismissal of head coach Tite. Notably, the former Brazil national team manager had only taken charge in December last year and lasted just 90 days in the role.
Cruzeiro’s official statement read: “Cruzeiro has decided to terminate Tite’s contract as head coach of the team. Assistant coaches Matheus Bachi and Vinicius Bergantin, as well as fitness coach Fábio Mahseredjian, will also leave their positions. The club thanks them for their dedication and wishes these professionals success in their future careers. During this transition period, Cruzeiro’s first team will be temporarily led by the club’s permanent assistant coach, Wesley Carvalho.”
Tite took charge of Cruzeiro on December 16 last year, signing a one-year contract. He managed the team in 17 matches, recording 8 wins, 3 draws, and 6 losses, with a win rate of less than 50% (47%). In the new Serie A season, Cruzeiro sit 19th in the table (second from bottom) with 3 points from six matches, after recording three draws and three defeats, leaving them deep in the relegation zone.
