    Official: Senegal has been ruled to have forfeited the Africa Cup of Nations final; Morocco will be awarded the victory

    The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released a statement announcing that the Senegal national team has been ruled to have forfeited the Africa Cup of Nations final. As a result, the match is awarded as a 3–0 victory to Morocco.


    Official Statement:

    The CAF Appeals Committee has issued its decision today: in accordance with Article 84 of the Regulations of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, the Senegal national team is deemed to have forfeited the final, and the match is awarded as a 3–0 win to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

    Regarding the appeal submitted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation concerning the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON Regulations, the CAF Appeals Committee has ruled as follows:

    - The appeal lodged by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is admissible in form and is upheld.

    - The previous decision of the CAF Disciplinary Committee is overturned.

    - The Appeals Committee finds that the conduct of the Senegal team falls within the scope of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON Regulations.

    - The claim submitted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is upheld.

    - The Senegalese Football Federation is found to have violated Article 82 of the AFCON Regulations due to the conduct of its team.

    - In accordance with Article 84, Senegal is deemed to have forfeited the match, and the result is recorded as a 3–0 victory for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

    - All other claims and requests for relief are dismissed.


    The CAF Appeals Committee also issued the following decisions:

    - The appeal concerning Morocco national team player No. 11, Saïvari, is partially upheld.

    - It is upheld that Saïvari committed misconduct, in violation of Articles 82 and 83(1) of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

    - The sanction is amended to a two-match suspension in CAF competitions, with one match suspended.

    - The $100,000 fine imposed on Saïvari is revoked.

    - The appeal concerning the ball boy incident is partially upheld.

    - It is upheld that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation bears responsibility for the conduct of the ball boys during the match.

    - The fine related to the ball boy incident is reduced to $50,000.

    - The appeal regarding interference around the VAR/referee review area is dismissed.

    - The $100,000 fine imposed on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for the VAR interference incident is upheld.

    - The appeal concerning the laser pointer incident is partially upheld.

    - The fine related to the laser pointer incident is reduced to $10,000.

    - All other claims and requests for relief are dismissed.
