Fabrizio Romano: Enzo Fernández and Chelsea FC have not reached an agreement on a new contract

    0 0

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has released a new video updating the latest developments in the transfer market. He focused on analyzing the futures of Enzo Fernández and Vinícius Júnior.

    On Robert Lewandowski

Let me start with the last tweet I posted before going live. In that tweet, I mentioned that Lewandowski had confirmed my recent reports regarding his future. Those who watched my previous video may remember my analysis: FC Barcelona are indeed considering a one-year contract extension, but nothing has been decided yet.

Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, is currently preparing multiple options for the Polish striker. These include staying at Barcelona for another year, moving to Major League Soccer (which I understand is a concrete option), joining the Saudi league, or signing with another European club. However, Barcelona’s intention to extend his contract does exist.

Lewandowski himself also spoke publicly today, saying:

“My contract situation with Barcelona has not changed. I will take some time to calmly consider my future and all available options.”

His statement confirms what I reported earlier.

    On Tottenham’s New Head Coach

There have been many questions surrounding Roberto De Zerbi being to the Tottenham job. First, a quick mention of Igor Tudor, who recently suffered the loss of his father, Mario, after the match against Nottingham Forest. Our condolences go out to him during this difficult time.

Now, back to De Zerbi. Several British media outlets reported today that he is with Tottenham. I want to reiterate what I’ve consistently said: De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino remain the two leading candidates to become Tottenham’s permanent manager this summer. Nothing has changed.

De Zerbi’s advantage is that he is currently available, allowing Tottenham to start discussions immediately. Meanwhile, Pochettino is fully focused on preparing the United States men's national soccer team for the World Cup. Therefore, De Zerbi is a key option—provided Tottenham remain in the Premier League. If they were to be relegated to the Championship, the situation would change completely.

To be clear, De Zerbi being a candidate is not new—he has always been a strong contender. As I’ve said before, the situation remains unchanged.

    On Antoine Griezmann

Now for a major confirmation: Antoine Griezmann’s transfer to Orlando City SC has been fully completed.

This was one of the biggest stories in European football last night and Sunday daytime in the US. All details of the deal have been agreed. Orlando City and Atlético Madrid had already discussed the transfer back in March, when the MLS transfer window was open. At the time, both Atlético and Griezmann rejected the move, choosing to finish the season together—especially with key matches like the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad and the Champions League quarter-final against FC Barcelona.

However, as I mentioned then, Griezmann had been considering a summer departure, and communication between Atlético and Orlando City continued. Now, all parties have reached a full agreement. Griezmann will travel to the US during the international break to finalize and sign his contract.

He will sign a two-year deal and wear the number 7 shirt. Orlando City’s director, Ricardo Moreira, made multiple trips to Madrid to complete the deal. From next season, Griezmann will officially play in MLS—this is one of today’s biggest transfer stories.

    On Enzo Fernández’s Future

Finally, an update on Enzo Fernández. Over the past 24 hours, he has arrived at the Argentina national team camp. When asked about his future at the airport, he responded: “We’ll see,” while emphasizing his full focus on Chelsea FC and upcoming matches, as well as preparing for the World Cup.

As I’ve said before, his contract situation with Chelsea is key. So far, no agreement has been reached on a new deal. If a suitable opportunity arises this summer, he could consider leaving.

However, Chelsea still hold control: Enzo has a long-term contract, is a key midfield player, earns a high salary, and was signed for a huge fee. Therefore, the club remains in a strong position.

Regarding rumors, let me clarify: when asked about Real Madrid, Enzo gave no response. There are currently no negotiations or talks between the two sides—this is true.

It’s only March, and Enzo hasn’t denied Madrid’s interest—he has simply stated that there are no ongoing talks. That’s very different from situations like Vitinha publicly ruling out a move.

Real Madrid are prioritizing midfield reinforcements this summer, but their exact target is still undecided. Internal discussions are ongoing, and we’ll have to wait a few months to see how things develop.

    On Vinícius Júnior’s Contract Renewal

Finally, regarding Vinícius Júnior’s contract renewal—a topic frequently asked about by fans.

According to my sources, Florentino Pérez is very keen to renew his contract. He greatly appreciates Vinícius and wants him to stay. Their relationship has always been excellent, and Vinícius also has no issues with head coach Álvaro Arbeloa.

After the complicated period under Xabi Alonso, the situation is now completely different. Real Madrid are actively pushing forward with the renewal—they have prepared a new contract and put it on the table.

Negotiations are ongoing, and as I’ve consistently said, Florentino wants to keep Vinícius. That remains the case today.
