Mohamed Salah: I will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season

Mohamed Salah has announced via social media that he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season.

In a farewell video, Salah said:

“Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has finally come. This is the first part of my goodbye. At the end of this season, I will leave Liverpool.

I want to start by saying I never imagined this club, this city, and these people would become such a deep part of my life.

Liverpool is more than just a football club — it’s passion, history, and spirit. It’s something I cannot fully explain to those who are not part of it.

We celebrated victories together, won the most important trophies, and stood side by side through the toughest moments.

I want to thank everyone who has been part of this club during my time here, especially my teammates — past and present — and the fans. Words are not enough. Your support during the best moments of my career, and your presence during the hardest times, are things I will never forget and will always carry with me.

Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best years of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home — for me and my family.

Thank you for everything. Because of you, I will never walk alone.”

The 33-year-old joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 for €42 million. In his debut season, he scored 32 goals, setting a Premier League record for a 38-game campaign.

During his time at the club, Salah helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, two EFL Cups, one FA Cup, and one Community Shield.

Individually, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times, been named Premier League Player of the Season twice, and received the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award three times.

Salah signed a contract extension with Liverpool in April 2025 until the summer of 2027, but will now leave one year early.

So far, he has made 435 appearances for the club, scoring 255 goals (third in Liverpool’s all-time scoring list) and providing 119 assists.
