Gone mad? Real Madrid TV protests refereeing decisions again.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, following an unpunished handball by Betis player Rodríguez inside the penalty area, Real Madrid TV launched a sustained and fierce attack on the referees, replaying the incident nearly 250 times during their post-match analysis.

After the defeat to Real Betis, Real Madrid TV once again strongly criticized the refereeing authorities, as well as La Liga and the presidents of the Spanish Football Federation, Javier Tebas and Luis Rubiales. They also reignited accusations against Barcelona regarding the “Negreira case” and even took aim at the media.

On their program El Partido de Hoy, the presenters and pundits focused almost exclusively on the alleged handball by Rodríguez following a shot from Díaz inside the Betis penalty area. The match referee, Cuadra Fernández, and VAR official Figueroa Vázquez both deemed that the incident did not warrant a penalty.

Real Madrid TV repeatedly replayed the controversial handball, while downplaying a potential handball by Díaz inside Madrid’s own penalty area in the 2nd minute—an incident that had sparked protests from Betis players—by briefly stating: “His arm was close to his body, and the ball struck part of his shoulder.”

During the first hour of the program, they entered a loop, replaying Ricardo Rodríguez’s handball incident in sequences of five repetitions at a time, each from different angles, over and over again.

At the same time, Real Madrid TV repeatedly insisted:

“This is a blatant penalty—there is no other interpretation. VAR should have reviewed this incident. Another handball goes unpunished. A massive handball. Once again, this has been manipulated on television and in the league. They are toying with the biggest club in the world. What excuse do they have for not awarding this handball?”
