The Sun: Prince William gets Kate’s ‘green light’ to attend FA Cup and Europa League finals

According to a report by The Sun, Prince William has been granted "special permission" by his wife, Kate, to attend two high-stakes football matches within a single week.

As a die-hard Aston Villa supporter, the Prince of Wales will first attend today’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City in his capacity as President of the Football Association.

Following this, the Prince faces a logistical challenge: traveling to Istanbul, Turkey, to watch Villa take on German side SC Freiburg in the Europa League final, which kicks off at 8:00 PM local time on Wednesday. This 3,900-mile round trip involves two four-hour flights.

Due to a scheduled official engagement in Cornwall just hours later, William may have to cut any potential celebrations short. A royal source stated: "We are doing our best to coordinate the logistics to make this trip happen. It is absolutely a match he doesn't want to miss."

This final marks Villa's first appearance in a major European final since their 1982 European Cup victory over Bayern Munich. Villa fans snapped up their allocation of 10,758 tickets for the 44,000-capacity stadium within hours, and thousands more ticketless supporters are expected to descend on Istanbul.

The 43-year-old Prince was seen celebrating enthusiastically in the stands last week during Villa’s 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest (winning 4-1 on aggregate). He even joined Unai Emery’s squad in the dressing room after the match. He later admitted to having "dark circles" under his eyes while hosting a Buckingham Palace garden party with Kate the following morning.

Next Thursday, he is scheduled to visit Cornwall for the inauguration of the Nansledan Market Street project. The development features the first new high street of its kind in over a century, alongside 900 homes, a primary school, office buildings, a community center, and over 40 shops, all set within a landscaped environment.
