In a World Cup semi-final held in the early hours of today, France were defeated 0-2 by Spain, ending their hopes of reaching the final. According to The Sun, Kylian Mbappé used a swear word during a post-match interview, forcing FOX Sports to censor the audio. The French star also apologized before using the profanity.

Mbappé struggled to find his rhythm throughout the match. His only notable scoring opportunity came from a free kick, but his effort sailed over the crossbar. After the game, when asked about his individual performance, he responded with a swear word — though he gave a warning beforehand and said “sorry” before saying it.

Mbappé’s frustration was clear as he explained in English:

“At the end of the day, when you win, you enjoy all the glory. But when you don’t win, you have to — sorry — take the shit.”

“Ultimately, that’s part of the game. It’s part of my game, it’s part of my life.

“As captain, I have to take full responsibility, and I have no problem with that. We wanted to reach the final, but we couldn’t make it happen.”
