According to Argentina’s newspaper La Nación, despite the recent wave of speculation surrounding his potential departure, Julián Álvarez has not taken any drastic action or made any rebellious moves. The Argentine forward is currently staying on the island of Ibiza, enjoying the final days of his holiday, while he has proactively maintained with Atlético Madrid and is following the club’s personalized remote training program designed for players involved in the World Cup.
During the World Cup, Álvarez publicly stated that leaving Atlético Madrid would be the best option for him to continue progressing in his career. However, the situation remains complicated. His contract with Atlético runs until 2030, and the club has set his release clause at a massive €500 million. In addition, Atlético Madrid is reportedly furious over Barcelona’s alleged unauthorized with the player and has already filed complaints with the Spanish Football Federation and FIFA.
Under the current plan, Álvarez will complete a nine-day remote fitness program before officially returning to Atlético Madrid on August 10 (next Monday) to resume normal training.
Due to his previous comments about wanting to leave, Álvarez’s relationship with Atlético supporters has fallen to an all-time low. Some radical fans have even posted videos on social media showing themselves burning his No. 19 shirt.
