However, his move to Serie A has failed to produce the expected impact, with Gimenez struggling to adapt and finding it difficult to establish himself as a consistent attacking force for Milan.

The 25-year-old could now have an opportunity to restart his career in Portugal, with FC Porto emerging as the strongest candidate for his signature. Porto are looking for a new striker ahead of the 2026/27 season and reportedly view Gimenez as an ideal fit for their attacking plans. Discussions between the Portuguese club and the player's representatives have intensified in recent days, while Gimenez is understood to be open to the possibility of moving to Porto and beginning a new chapter away from Italy.

Milan are also believed to be willing to facilitate the transfer after becoming disappointed with Gimenez's performances during his time at the club. His situation has become even more uncertain with the striker reportedly falling outside Ruben Amorim's plans for the upcoming campaign. Milan's absence from the Champions League next season could further reduce the need for a large attacking squad, making a permanent transfer a practical solution rather than keeping Gimenez as a secondary option.
