The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has officially announced that Xavi Hernández has been appointed as the new head coach of the Netherlands men’s national team.

The 46-year-old Spanish coach will replace Ronald Koeman. Xavi has reached an agreement with the Dutch FA on a contract that will run until the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

At this summer’s World Cup, the Netherlands were eliminated by Morocco in the Round of 32 after losing in a penalty shootout. Koeman subsequently announced his resignation.

Xavi took charge of Barcelona on November 6, 2021. During his two-and-a-half-year spell as head coach, he managed the team in 143 matches, helping Barcelona win the 2022/23 La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup.

In June 2024, Barcelona and Xavi reached an agreement to terminate his contract.
