Barcelona reportedly had an opportunity to sign Nick Woltemade during the summer transfer window, but the timing of the proposal worked against the German forward. Woltemade had become unsettled at Newcastle United after initially arriving from Stuttgart for around €75 million following an impressive spell in the Bundesliga. Although he made a promising start in England, his form later dipped and his role within the squad became increasingly limited. Woltemade was also not considered a priority target when Barcelona initially assessed options for their attack, making a late change in direction even less likely.

Barcelona ultimately completed the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, while Woltemade chose Juventus in sarch of a more prominent role and regular playing time. With Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres no longer part of the attacking plans, Hansi Flick now has Raphinha, Jesus and young forward Hamza Abdelkarim among his central attacking options.
