Jamie Vardy has joined Burnley on a season-long contract, giving the Championship side a major boost in experience as they look to turn around a difficult start to the campaign. The 39-year-old striker arrives after spending last season with Cremonese in Serie A, although the Italian club eventually suffered relegation to Serie B.

Vardy is best remembered for his remarkable spell at Leicester City, where he spent more than a decade and became one of the club’s greatest players. He played a key role in Leicester’s historic Premier League title triumph during the 2015-16 season, while also helping the club win the FA Cup and reach the Champions League quarterfinals. His individual achievements included winning the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2019-20 campaign.

The forward left Leicester at the end of the 2024-25 season after 13 years with the club. His departure came during a difficult period for the Foxes, who were relegated from the Premier League that season and have since dropped into League One. Vardy now begins a new chapter at Burnley, bringing his experience, leadership and goalscoring pedigree to a squad in need of greater attacking strength.
