Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering selling Ecuadorian youngster Justin Lerma during the winter transfer window in 2027. The 18-year-old has struggled to find regular playing opportunities, with employment regulations reportedly preventing him from featuring for Dortmund’s reserve side in the Regionalliga West. That situation has also made it difficult for him to break into the senior team.

Lerma’s difficulties have been compounded by an underwhelming pre-season campaign with the first team ahead of the 2026/27 season. With limited opportunities available and little progress in his development, Dortmund are now believed to be open to parting ways with the teenager. However, the club must first focus on his recovery after he suffered a muscle injury, as selling an injured player could make it harder to attract interested clubs.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Lerma remains under contract with Dortmund until the summer of 2031. His current market value is estimated at €3.2 million, equivalent to around Rp65.3 billion, according to Transfermarkt. The long-term deal gives Dortmund considerable control over his future, although the club may have to weigh its original investment against his limited first-team prospects.

Dortmund signed Lerma from Ecuadorian side Independiente during the summer of 2026 for a reported €4 million, or approximately Rp81.7 billion. The move was viewed as an investment in one of Ecuador’s promising young talents, but the combination of employment restrictions, limited playing time and his difficult start could now lead to an early separation. If Dortmund decide to sell, his recovery and potential suitors will likely play an important role in determining the timing and value of the transfer.
