Slovakia face Moldova on September 26 in Prešov in the opening round of Group C3 of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Kazakhstan and the Faroe Islands complete the group, while the return meeting is scheduled in Chișinău on October 6. In the 2024/25 Nations League, Slovakia finished second in Group C1 with 13 points from six matches, scoring 10 and conceding five. They then lost to Slovenia in the B/C play-off and therefore remain in League C this season. Moldova made progress by topping Group D2 in the 2024/25 Nations League with nine points and earning promotion to League C. However, their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign was difficult, with only one point from eight matches. Slovakia's six most recent matches before kickoff produced three wins, one draw and two defeats. Moldova drew with Bulgaria and Armenia but lost to Lithuania, Cyprus, Israel and Italy, highlighting defensive difficulties. The teams have met only twice in official competition: Slovakia won 1-0 in Moldova

    • Bulgaria and Luxembourg will open their 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaigns at Stadion Hristo Botev in Plovdiv on Saturday evening, with both teams competing in League C Group 4 alongside Estonia and Iceland. Bulgaria remained in the third tier after losing both legs of their 2025 Nations League playoff against the Republic of Ireland, despite holding an advantage for a large part of the first meeting. Their struggles continued during World Cup qualifying, where they finished bottom of their group after six consecutive defeats before ending the campaign with a victory over Georgia. Aleksandar Dimitrov’s team later recorded two wins in the FIFA World Series, but their summer friendlies produced a defeat to Montenegro and a 2-2 draw with Moldova. Luxembourg also endured a difficult World Cup qualifying campaign, failing to collect a single point and scoring only once in six matches. They did, however, retain their League C status after defeating Malta in both legs of a playoff in Mar

    • Albania will host Belarus at Arena Kombetare on Saturday night as both sides begin their UEFA Nations League campaign in League C Group 3. Automatic promotion will go to the group winners, while the runners-up will enter the promotion playoffs, with Finland and San Marino also competing in the section. Albania arrive in difficult form after narrowly missing out on a place at the 2026 World Cup, suffering a 2-1 playoff defeat to Poland after conceding late in the match. Sylvinho subsequently left his position as head coach, with Rolando Maran taking charge after a long managerial career in Italian club football. Maran’s tenure has started with two friendly defeats against Israel and Luxembourg, extending Albania’s losing streak to five matches. Belarus enter the fixture with considerably greater momentum after going unbeaten in their last six matches. Viktor Goncharenko, who replaced Carlos Alos in January, has overseen three victories and three draws since taking charge. Belarus re

    • Athletic Bilbao will look to maintain their recent momentum when they travel to face Levante in La Liga on Wednesday. The visitors currently sit ninth with seven points from five matches, while Levante are 13th on five points. Levante have collected one win, two draws and two defeats so far, recovering from an opening 3-0 loss to Espanyol with a victory over Real Betis and draws against Osasuna and Malaga. Their progress was halted by a 4-2 defeat to Barcelona in their latest outing, leaving them eager to respond against an Athletic side they have struggled to overcome in recent years. The historical record strongly favors Athletic, who have won eight and drawn three of their last 11 meetings with Levante. The Lions also claimed a 4-2 victory when the teams last met in February, while Levante have not beaten Athletic since a 3-0 success in December 2018. Athletic themselves have recovered impressively after starting the season with defeats against Sevilla and Barcelona, following those
