Los Angeles FC have dismissed head coach Marko Mauro dos Santos.

Los Angeles FC officially announced that, after careful consideration, the club has decided to part ways with head coach Marko Mauro dos Santos.

LAFC President of Soccer Operations John Thorrington said: “Mark has given a great deal to this club over the years, and we thank him for his commitment, care and contributions to LAFC. We wish Mark and his family all the best in the future.”

The club said that the process of appointing a new head coach has now begun and that an update on the interim coaching arrangement will be announced shortly.

Despite having a strong squad led by Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga, LAFC currently sit sixth in the Western Conference with 11 wins, nine draws and eight defeats. The team has also won just one of its last nine matches in all competitions.

According to ESPN, dos Santos had faced growing frustration from LAFC supporters over a lack of tactical variation and his substitution decisions. The team had also been booed by home fans, who have traditionally been highly supportive of the club.

Following LAFC’s 0-1 away defeat to FC Dallas on Saturday, Sporting Director John Thorrington ultimately decided that it was time to make a change. Since July, LAFC have recorded just one win, four draws and five defeats in MLS.

Dos Santos was the third head coach in LAFC’s history. The club joined MLS in 2018 as an expansion team.
