After consecutive games on the road, Bosnia & Herzegovina return to Stadion Bilino Polje on Friday as they welcome Sweden in the third round of the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League. Both sides have made positive starts to their continental campaigns, with the weekend clash offering them another chance to make their respective mark on the group. Back in action for the first time since their FIFA World Cup round-of-32 exit, Bosnia & Herzegovina kicked off their Nations League campaign last week with a dour goalless draw against Poland. Zmajevi were much sharper in attack in their second game, beating Romania 4-2 in Bucharest, with a well-worked goal finished off by Armin Gigovic inside the opening 12 minutes setting the tone. Bosnia will return to familiar surroundings this weekend, aiming to further boost their chances of promotion while also giving veteran striker Edin Dzeko a proper send-off as the nation's all-time appearance maker and top scorer calls time on his international career.

The lingering psychological edge from their last meeting looms large over this UEFA Nations League fixture. Bosnia and Herzegovina welcome the strong Sweden side at home for this crucial group contest, which counts for far more than just points on the league table, as it will serve as a direct test of both sides’ current form and tactical identities. Their most recent previous friendly encounter saw Sweden secure a 4-2 victory on their own turf, having established a 1-0 lead before the half-time whistle. In that game, Sweden demonstrated a far more mature attacking system and clinical finishing ability. Though Bosnia fought hard to pull goals back in the second half, the obvious gaps in their defensive line were impossible to fully fix on the day. This past result adds a distinct layer of psychological gamesmanship to the upcoming clash, and the home side will be eager to put on a much more organized, tight performance in front of their own fans to reverse their unfavorable head-to-h

Home form has been a major strength for Bosnia and Herzegovina in this Nations League campaign, as they sit comfortably in the upper half of the group with a solid points buffer. The side boasts incredible on-pitch resilience, with their defensive output ranking among the very best across the division, keeping their conceded goal count at an impressively low level. They play a physical, aggressive style at home, with players throwing themselves into every duel and showing outstanding mental toughness under pressure, making them extremely hard to break down quickly, with very few points dropped on their own turf. They line up in a 4-4-2 formation with two up front, and the attacking pair has proven to be a highly reliable goalscoring unit, excelling at poaching chances in the box and grabbing goals from scrappy, chaotic situations. Their full-backs are physically dominant, doing a stellar job cutting off opposition wide attacking threats, while the midfield unit focuses almost entirely

Sitting comfortably in the upper half of their UEFA Nations League group, Bosnia and Herzegovina hold a solid points buffer that gives them plenty of breathing room in the standings. They have shown incredible resilience across recent fixtures, notching 4 wins, 5 draws and only 1 loss in their last 10 official matches. Their defensive record ranks among the most reliable in the competition, with a tightly organized backline that keeps conceded goals at a very manageable level. On home soil, they deploy physical, high-intensity pressing that makes them extremely tough to break down quickly. They rarely drop points at their own ground, and their strong mental fortitude under pressure makes them a nightmare for visiting sides to penetrate. They line up in a 4-4-2 dual-striker setup, with Demirovic and Tabakovic building sharp on-pitch chemistry. • Ukraine and Northern Ireland are locked together at the top of UEFA Nations League (UNL) Group B2 with identical records, so the winner of this clash stands to significantly bolster their promotion chances. Match News and Current Form Ukraine were perhaps fortunate to escape from their matchday two fixture against Georgia with a 0-0 draw, though a third clean sheet in four games under Andrea Maldera points to solid defensive foundations being laid. The Blue and Yellow have made an unbeaten start (W1, D1) to their third successive UNL cycle in the second tier and have now avoided defeat in their last six group matches in this competition (W3, D3). Sustaining that could prove tricky as they set out on a fifth straight UNL game as the designated hosts with a different venue than the previous one, with this their first game in Trnava, Slovakia since beating Malta there in March 2023.

    • After making a perfect start to their UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaign, Slovakia could open up a huge lead atop Group C3 should they beat an unbeaten Faroe Islands side on matchday three. Match News and Current Form Faroe Islands have started their third successive League C campaign in solid fashion after back-to-back 1-1 draws against Kazakhstan and Moldova. Eyðun Klakstein’s side opened the scoring in both games inside the opening 30 minutes, so they’ll be frustrated despite stretching an encouraging run of form to just two defeats from their last ten matches (W6, D2). The Faroe Islands have been particularly strong at home recently too having lost just one of the last eight games they hosted (W3, D4), but a step up in opposition quality could pose an issue here for a side who’ve lost all six of their games against teams currently in the top-45 of the FIFA rankings since beating Turkey four years ago.

    • Belgium and Türkiye clash in UEFA Nations League action at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liège on Friday. The two teams find themselves in Group 1 of League A alongside Italy and France. Belgium are second in the group on three points after two matches, tied with Italy but above them due to the Red Devils' better head-to-head record over the Azzurri after the opening game. France top the group with six points. Belgium kicked off their Nations League campaign by defeating Italy 2-0 in Rome on 25 September. Goals from Dodi Lukebakio and Mika Godts downed the Azzurri at the Stadio Olimpico, giving the Belgians an excellent start to the competition.
