Goncalo Ramos Finds His Scoring Touch for Portugal as AC Milan Await a Breakthrough

    0 0

Goncalo Ramos has given AC Milan a reason for optimism after producing an impressive spell with Portugal during the international break. The 24-year-old striker scored three goals and provided one assist while Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from the squad, showing the finishing ability that Milan have been waiting to see on a more consistent basis. His performances could be particularly important as the Italian club prepares for a demanding October schedule.

Ramos has so far contributed only one goal and one assist for Milan, despite being active in pressing and liking up with teammates in the final third. His work rate has been useful, but his finishing has not consistently matched the expectations attached to a striker signed for a reported fee of €75 million. The main challenge is therefore not his involvement in the game, but turning that involvement into more decisive goalscorer. Portugal provided him with an environment in which he could take greater responsibility in attack, and he responded by making the most of his opportunities. For Milan, the priority now is ensuring that the confidence gained with Portugal carries over into club football, particularly when the team needs a reliable moments inside the penalty area.

His international performances suggest that Ramos still possesses the instincts of a natural goalscorer. Portugal provided him with an environment in which he could take greater responsibility in attack, and he responded by making the most of his opportunities. For Milan, the priority now is ensuring that the confidence gained with Portugal carries over into club football, particularly when the team needs a reliable source of goals during a busy period.

Ruben Amorim could also consider tactical adjustments to help Ramos become more influential in front of goal. Jorge Jesus previously used several formations, including systems with two forwards, which helped distribute the attacking workload and create additional space for Ramos. A similar approach could benefit Milan, with Christian Pulisic potentially playing a supporting role that allows Ramos to operate closer to the penalty area rather than being required to contribute across too many phases of the attack.

The Portugal international break has therefore arrived at an important moment in Ramos' Milan career. His scoring burst has demonstrated the quality that made him such an attractive signing, but the real test will come when he returns to Serie A. If he can maintain his confidence and convert more of his opportunities, Ramos could quickly become a much more decisive figure for Milan and provide the attacking threat the club has been expecting from him.
