Federico Dimarco is reportedly set to discuss a new contract with Inter Milan that could keep him at the club until 2030. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, talks with the Italian international’s representatives have already begun, reflecting Inter’s desire to secure the future of one of their most influential players. The proposed extension would underline his importance to the squad and the club’s long-term ambitions.
Dimarco’s current agreement includes a unilateral option that would allow Inter to extend his contract until 2028. However, the club appears keen to go further by offering a deal that runs through 2030, coinciding with the next FIFA World Cup. Given his consistent performances and growing leadership role, the wing-back could remain a key figure in Inter’s plans for several more seasons.
The 28-year-old recently returned to action against Parma after staying in Milan during the international break. His performance in Inter’s 3-0 victory earned a rating of 6.5 from Corriere dello Sport, which viewed his display as evidence that his knee had recovered. Sky Sport has also predicted that Dimarco could return to the starting lineup for Inter’s upcoming Champions League fixture against Club Brugge at San Siro.
Alongside his recovery and contract discussions, Dimarco has reportedly been spending extra time practising free kicks at Inter’s Appiano Gentile training ground. His impressive set-piece goal against Borussia Dortmund in the previous Champions League campaign demonstrated his ability to make a difference from dead-ball situations. Although Inter already have Hakan Calhanoglu as an established free-kick specialist, Dimarco’s continued work in this area could provide the team with another dangerous attacking option.
Inter’s anticipated meeting with Club Brugge will offer Dimarco another opportunity to demonstrate his value as the club considers his long-term future. The two sides have never faced each other in an official competitive match, with their only previous encounters taking place during the 1981 Kirin Cup friendly tournament in Japan. As negotiations progress, Inter will hope to maintain Dimarco’s influence on the pitch while securing his services for the years ahead.
