The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) Disciplinary Committee has officially published its ruling, imposing a 30-day suspension and a fine of €255 on Cristiano Ronaldo for leaving the national team camp ahead of Portugal’s away match against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.

The decision was made by the FPF Disciplinary Committee after Ronaldo left Portugal’s training camp in Denmark without prior authorization. In his apology statement, Ronaldo himself acknowledged that his actions deserved to be punished, particularly given his role as team captain.

After reviewing the disciplinary proceedings involving the Portuguese captain, the committee announced its decision. Notably, Ronaldo had already been placed under a provisional suspension.

Excerpts from the FPF Disciplinary Committee’s Ruling

On September 30, the defendant, Cristiano Ronaldo, left the senior men’s national team training camp in Denmark before the official training session ahead of Portugal’s match against Denmark. The session was scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. He neither attended the training session nor the dinner scheduled for 8:30 p.m. that evening at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel.

Ronaldo initiated his departure and used a vehicle provided by the national team’s director of services. Before leaving, the defendant did not inform or explain his intentions to the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) or the officials of the senior men’s national team. After leaving the stadium, Ronaldo explicitly informed the FPF president by telephone that he had decided not to remain at the national team camp and would withdraw from the team’s training activities.

The Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee ruled that the charges in this case were fully substantiated. It found that Ronaldo had deliberately committed a disciplinary offense under Article 160(1) of the Portuguese Football Code.

Consequently, the committee imposed a 30-day suspension and a fine of 2.5 Portuguese units, equivalent to €255.00.
