Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna, with Julian Alvarez scoring the decisive goal. After the match, the Argentine striker apologised to Atletico fans for his comments during the World Cup.

Apology to the fans

Alvarez: “I want to apologise to the fans for my comments during the World Cup. It was a mistake, both in the way I expressed myself and in the timing. I understand their anger, and if I were a fan, I would be angry too, especially given how much support you have always shown me. You have been very understanding, and I truly appreciate that. I also want to thank the team for standing by me throughout this period.”

On his form

Alvarez: “I am gradually starting to feel better. I am grateful to all my teammates because they have continued to support me. I am working hard to improve, and I have felt better in recent matches, both physically and on the ball. I want to help the team and give my very best.”

On his mentality

Alvarez: “When you feel good in your personal life, it also reflects on the pitch. Although we are professional footballers, everything has an impact. I feel good and am ready to fight for everything.”

On the fans

Alvarez: “I hope that through hard work and humility, I can turn the current situation around. I also want to thank the fans for their support throughout this period.”
