Five Serie A Giants Eye Federico Chiesa as Liverpool Consider January Exit

    0 0

Federico Chiesa could be heading back to Italian football, with AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Lazio, and Atalanta reportedly monitoring his situation at Liverpool. The Italian winger has struggled to secure regular playing time since arriving at Anfield, prompting speculation that the Premier League champions may be willing to let him leave during the January transfer window. Interest from several Serie A clubs could provide Chiesa with an opportunity to revive his career in a familiar environment, where his pace, dribbling, and attacking versatility have previously made him a valuable player.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, the five Italian clubs have made enquiries about Chiesa’s availability as they assess potential attacking reinforcements. AC Milan could be particularly interested in strengthening their forward line amid injury problems affecting Samuel Chukwueze and Alexis Saelemaekers. Chukwueze is expected to miss at least two months with a hip problem, while Saelemaekers is also facing an extended spell on the sidelines. Chiesa’s ability to operate on either flank could offer Milan additional options in attack, although any potential move would depend on the club’s financial position and the terms Liverpool are prepared to accept.

Despite his limited opportunities in England, Chiesa remains an experienced attacker with an impressive footballing background. He joined Liverpool from Juventus in the summer of 2024 for a relatively modest transfer fee and was part of the squad that won the Premier League during his first season at the club. However, he has yet to establish himself as a regular starter, leaving questions about his long-term role at Anfield. His contract runs until June 2028, meaning Liverpool retain control over his future, but the club are reportedly open to considering offers if suitable terms can be agreed.

A return to Serie A could offer Chiesa the chance to rediscover the form that made him one of Italy’s most exciting attacking players. Before moving to Liverpool, he spent four seasons at Juventus after developing his career at Fiorentina. His performances for Italy at Euro 2020, when the national team won the tournament, further established his reputation on the international stage. Familiarity with Italian football could help him adapt quickly to a new club, while regular appearances would give him a better opportunity to regain confidence and consistency.

However, the interest from Milan, Inter, Roma, Lazio, and Atalanta does not guarantee that a transfer will happen in January. Liverpool’s asking price, Chiesa’s wages, and the proposed structure of any deal are likely to determine whether negotiations progress. Each interested club will also need to consider how the winger fits into its existing tactical system and squad plans. With several Italian sides reportedly keeping track of his situation, the January transfer window could become an important turning point in Chiesa’s career as he weighs the prospect of remaining in England against a return to the league where he previously enjoyed his greatest success.
