Chelsea and Manchester City Move Ahead of Tottenham in Race for £42m Striker Nicolo Tresoldi

Tottenham Hotspur face growing competition in their pursuit of Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly stepping up their interest in the highly rated forward. Valued at around £42 million, the 22-year-old has emerged as a potential target ahead of the January transfer window as several Premier League clubs look to strengthen their attacking options.

Spurs have been monitoring Tresoldi for several weeks as they consider ways to improve their forward line. However, they are far from alone in the race, with as many as 11 clubs reportedly keeping tabs on the striker. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Everton, Leeds United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are among the other sides said to be interested, highlighting the growing demand for his signature.

Chelsea and Manchester City appear to have made significant progress in assessing the player. According to reports from TeamTalk, both clubs sent scouts to watch Tresoldi in action during Club Brugge’s Belgian Pro League clash against St. Truiden. The striker delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat-trick to strengthen his reputation and attract even greater attention from potential suitors.

Tresoldi’s latest goals took his tally to seven in nine appearances this season, an impressive return that helps explain the interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Tottenham have shown signs of improvement in attack in recent league matches, but their forwards have yet to produce a player with five goals this season. Bringing in a reliable goalscorer could therefore be an important step in addressing their attacking concerns.

Despite the growing interest, Club Brugge are reportedly unwilling to part ways with Tresoldi at this stage. The Belgian side are understood to consider him an important asset and are determined to keep him beyond the January window. Tresoldi is also reportedly open to staying until the end of the season rather than forcing an immediate move. With Chelsea and Manchester City now firmly in the picture, Tottenham could face a difficult battle if they hope to secure his services.
